This book is a concept-focused, informal introduction to the field of physics that can be enjoyed without any prior knowledge. Step by step and using many examples and illustrations, the most important quantities in physics are gently explained. From length and mass, over energy and power, all the way to voltage and magnetic flux. The mathematics in the book is strictly limited to basic high school algebra to allow anyone to get in and to assure that the focus always remains on the core physical concepts.

From the author of "The Book of Forces", "Introduction to Stars Spectra, Formation, Evolution, Collapse" and the series "Great Formulas Explained".

Physics! In Quantities and Examples Metin Bektas

Physics! In Quantities and Examples is a light,easy-to-read review/introduction to the basic principles of physics. In general, the writing is clear and the concepts are explained satisfactorily. Fun, practical tidbits and examples help further to tie everything together. The book does fall down at times, but mostly in minor ways; there are, for example, more typos and solecisms than one usually likes to come across in a published work.

These things are only niggling concerns, except where they potentially confuse or mislead the reader. Unfortunately, this does occur in a few spots. One instance that comes to mind occurs in the Temperature chapter. It's stated there that high pressure causes the melting point of ice to increase; rather, it's the opposite (otherwise the experiment with string, weights, and block of ice makes no sense). Another occurs in the Electricity chapter where it is stated that power (voltage) sources are additive when connected in parallel. This is incorrect; eg, to obtain a 12 volt source one would connect four 3 volt batteries in *series*.

Quibbles aside, I really enjoyed this book. I got a very good review of physics, and the price can't be beat. I look forward to more books from this author. My only hope would be that in future more time is spent on proofreading and editing before a book is released.

Physics! In Quantities and Examples Metin Bektas Reviews

I got it on time
An enjoyable read and informative.it makes me want to buy his other books.learned a lot of interesting things easy to understand
A nice introductory book for anyone who wants to learn or just to refresh basic science knowledge.
The examples make physics understandable, and this book is full of it.
Science can be fun too!
Putting aside some of the English mistakes (which do not detract from the content) this book is an excellent overview for laymen and those wanting to begin the study of physics.
Excellent book, even for someone without a strong mathematical background.
The Author explains the subjects fairly well with examples and lots of formulas, which I love! If you have an interest in Physics, and want to know how to calculate different problems, then you will not be disappointed. I already have several books by this author and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I hope he writes many more. I highly recommend this book.
I bought this book as a reminder of things studied decades ago, and have enjoyed it. Decent use of examples. But I would judge this book to be a slog for someone looking for an intro. Lots of formulas. Also, many concepts not explained fully (on purpose), and someone with no prior exposure to most of the technical ideas could be overwhelmed.
