Their mission was to recover an ancient derelict from the farthest edge of the Sol system. What they’ve found could spell the end of humanity. Trapped on the Mira, Corporal Kalimura must lead her squad of injured marines to safety. But, aboard the derelict, every shadow is a possible threat, and around every corner lurks another hazard. Without life support or gravity, and only their suit lights to see by, they must explore the ancient wreck to find a way to communicate with their ship and escape their hellish prison. The remaining crew aboard S&R Black struggle to tow Mira out of the path of an incoming Kuiper Belt Object only to realize that the non-sentient hazard is the least of their worries. Derelict Tomb, book 2 of the Derelict Saga, is an action-packed mashup of suspense, military sci-fi, and space opera horror that will keep you guessing every turn of the page.
Derelict Tomb Derelict Saga Volume 2 Paul E Cooley Books
I was impatiently waiting for this book to be available and it was well worth the wait!! The story picks up right where Derelict: Marines left off, so you don't miss any of the action. The only reason I stop reading at night is because I have to sleep, so I can go to work and earn money to purchase more of Paul's books. This is an expertly crafted story; just when you think the suspense and terror will be too much, Paul switches the action to give you a breather, so you can really appreciate the story. So many mysteries, so much terror...I can't wait for Derelict: Destruction. And I really, really want bio nannies.Product details

Derelict Tomb Derelict Saga Volume 2 Paul E Cooley Books Reviews
I had some misgivings that this book was going to go into the toilet as "Ship Lord" did (different author). I was refreshingly surprised to be met with some original creatures and desperate solutions. This one is worth the time to read it slowly and enjoy the adventure.
While the first installment spent time getting to know the characters as they were getting outfitted for the journey to Mira, this volume picks up where the 1st left off and throws you right into the action as the Marines attempt to get their bearings on Mira. While some readers have complained about not understanding why certain details were included in the first volume, the patient reader who understands the value of well-placed landmines will be rewarded for that patience in Tomb. No spoilers here but you'll be hanging on for the ride, turning the pages as fast as you can, and cursing Cooley to write faster on Book 3 when you get to the end. This is a thrill ride you don't want to miss!!
Kinda forgot to his was only book 2 of 3. Still, Cooley, you cliff-hangering bastard!
This story keeps speeding through the story keeping the tension high with enough "good news bits" to lend a bit of relief.
The action never lets up as all the different groups are kept up to date with the story being told from their individual perspectives with the switch of POV's NOT being confusing
CAN NOT WAIT for the next installment.
This is a fantastic series. I first found Paul E. Cooley when I stumbled upon The Black series. If you haven't read that one, you need to. Anyway, Derelict Marines and Derelict Tomb are so good that I was literally angry when I finished them because I wanted more. Paul Cooley is very good at universe building and character development. You really care about the characters and their stories. Tomb is the sequel to Marines and moves much faster. If you like military sci-if you will not be able to put this one down. It has everything interesting characters, a mystery, suspense, and action. You won't regret this purchase. The only thing I regret is having to wait for Part 3 to come out!
So enjoyable. Cannot put this down, had to read, read read. The characters and what is going on just grabs you and you have to know more. Please hurry with the next book. Already need to read it NOW! LOL.
The first book in the series built on characters and their slow build up as they trek through space. This expands on that formula with a more claustrophobic backdrop feeling to it. Book one gave you the feel of infinite and now in two they have nowhere to go. We learn more about the characters histories without it feeling shoehorned in. The action ramps up when they begin to discover what we share the Galaxy with and the aren't friendly. As stated in other reviews, this is a part of a bigger story and doesn't have a beginning, middle, end as normal. Instead, this has the feeling of "the middle", leaving me to believe that book 3(the final book?) will be heavy on the action as it wraps up the tale. This format style isn't for everyone, but for those that look past one large book split into three, there is a good story to read(hear).
I enjoyed this sequel to the first book, and am enjoying the story overall. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all ends. My only complaint is that some parts of the story (the soldiers in the derelict ship for example) are taking FOREVER to make any progress. From the beginning of the book to the end, I just felt like they were repeating the same scenario over and over again, and making little progress. But I will buy the third because like I said I want to see how it ends.
